May 2007, Chaine Event at Seoul Plaza Hotel 2007.05.21  

 

Another most impressive Chaine de Rotisseurs ”°diner amicable”± has been successfully staged and executed in Seoul, this time at the Seoul Plaza Hotel.

The event took place on Saturday, May 19th, and began with a champagne reception at the hotels top floor Topaz Room. With stunning panoramic view of the heart of Seoul below, the stage was set for a great night ahead. Champagne flowed, delectable canapes were passed around, and the socializing and networking that ensued was animate.

A golden bell eventually sounded to usher the guests into the Duksu dining hall which had been decorated in the theme of the ”°Phantom of the Opera”±, complete with masked ushers and opera performances. It was a spectacular show by incredibly talented artists playing to the acoustic senses of an enthralled audience, throughout the night. The tables were set with sparkling crystal, shining china and silver ware, and delightful floral arrangements.

But as should be the case for any La Chaine des Rotisseurs Event, the quality, taste, presentation and service of a great meal did not stand in the shadow of the show. To the contrary, the Culinary and Service teams of the Seoul Plaza Hotel certainly stood out as a class act from beginning to end. The menu was avant garde, melding Western and Korean flavors and tastes, certainly not fusion, but rather an intricate marriage of local and imported delicacies. The wines which were served through the night had been selected by a true pro, each one matched perfectly with every course that followed. Service was professional, with traditional techniques abided by in theatrical precision, the mostly female servers coiffed identical and impeccably uniformed.

The evening concluded in the adjoining lounge where in a regal setting, the attendees could reminisce and mingle some more while indulging in exquisite XO Cognac and Davidoff Cigars”¦
